OK, fans of the written word, the Crooked Book Club is preparing to ramp up. Our inaugural book is “The Cubs Way: The Zen of Building the Best Team in Baseball and Breaking the Curse,” by Sports Illustrated baseball writer Tom Verducci. Since this is our first outing, we may have to play around with the format and timetable to make sure it works for everyone. But here’s a tentative schedule that should allow everyone to keep up, covering four chapters every 5-6 days.

Thurs. June 15 at 8:00 EDT, we’ll discuss this first four chapters: (1) Prelude to 7; (2) Ready for Change; (3) The First Piece; (4) Game 1.

Wed. June 21 at 8:00 EDT: (5) The Plan; (6) That’s Cub; (7) Game 2; (8) The Beast.

Tues. June 27 at 8:00 EDT: (9) the Recruit; (10) Broad Street Joey; (11) Game 3; (12) The Zen of Joe.

Thurs. July 6 at 8:00 EDT: (13) Game 4; (14) Flipping the Culture; (15) Game 5; (16) Embrace the Target.

Tues. July 11 at 8:00 EDT: (17) Game 6; (18) Seven; (19) Interlude; (20) Heaven.
